UPDATE: Friday night, Chicago police said Kevin Thorton had been located. No additional information was released.

A 47-year-old developmentally disabled man went missing today after he left a bus taking him to a doctor’s appointment, police said while asking for the public’s help in finding him.

Kevin Thorton, who also suffers from seizures, was escorted onto a bus this morning to be taken to the 2000 block of North Clybourn Avenue for a work-study program and a doctor’s appointment, police said.

He was last seen about 8 a.m., and it is believed he left the bus unobserved in the 5100 block of West Roscoe Street or the 2000 block of North Clybourn while the driver was assisting other passengers on or off the bus, according to the police high risk missing person alert.

The alert describes Thorton as black, 5-foot-3 and 120 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and a dark complexion. He was wearing a yellow-and-brown checked short-sleeve polo shirt, blue jeans and gym shoes.

Thorton was carrying a black and blue shoulder bag with a possible AT&T; or Verison logo, a blue lunch bag, a green tote bag and a silver coffee can. Police said he might have his work schedule with him, but is not carrying any other identification.

Anyone seeing him is asked to call Area North Special Victims Unit detectives at 312-744-8200.
