On the offensive:

NIU quarterback Jordan Lynch passed 31 yards to Martel Moore for a touchdown in the second quarter. He also ran for three scores from 1, 32 and 4 yards. Lynch has rushed for four touchdowns in the first two games.

Getting defensive:

Alan Baxter recorded a sack for NIU. The Huskies defense benefited from Skyhawks’ miscues on two short field goal attempts and a UT-Martin fumble into the end zone that resulted in a touchback. NIU’s Jimmie Ward recorded an 18-yard interception return.

The number:

16: Northern Illinois won its 16th straight game at Huskie Stadium. The last NIU loss there was Sept. 26, 2009, when Idaho prevailed, 34-31.

They’re still talking about:

NIU’s Leighton Settle recording his first career 100-yard game.

Relatively speaking:

Two relatives of the late NFL quarterback Steve McNair play for UT-Martin — Julius McNair (cousin) and Jason McNair (nephew).

Looking ahead:

NIU travels Saturday to West Point, N.Y., to face Army.
