Mitt Romney has hit the nail on the head when he declares that 47 percent of the American electorate consider themselves victims and expect restitution by the federal government (that would be the rest of us).
The entitlement mentality has taken the country by storm, fueled not insignificantly by the Obama administration’s cherry picking of federal aid to potential voters a la Chicago-style power politics. We are witnessing this phenomenon being applied to the nation wholesale. For a Republican or other conservative to surmount this built-in liberal plurality would be akin to a Republican candidate defeating an incumbent Democratic mayor of Chicago. Just take a look at the initiatives promoted by President Obama during his first term. Say goodbye to your country as you have known it. America will no longer be exceptional, but common; common being the operative word.
