CALGARY, Alberta, Jan 30 (Reuters) – Imperial Oil Ltd

said it is working to return its 121,000 barrel a day

Sarnia, Ontario, refinery to normal operations following a

mechanical problem on Tuesday, but did not specify the nature of

the problem.

Imperial spokesman Pius Rolheiser said on Wednesday he had

no indication if the issue would affect the plant’s ability to

supply markets.

The company issued an alert on Tuesday for excessive flaring

and smoke at the refinery and chemical complex, but offered no

details on the impact on production.
