How much more new media can a traditional media company get?
is launching a new online and TV series with a profane interjection in the title.
Discovery announced a pact with the British creator of
page “I Fucking Love Science,” Elise Andrew, to host regular video segments on media company’s TestTube online network and
. In Discovery’s usage, the IFLS title is represented with asterisks or other characters obscuring the actual word.
In early 2012, Andrew launched the IFLS
, posting pictures, factoids, witticisms, news and Internet memes related to science and nature. She now has more than 6.6 million followers on the social site.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Discovery said the project is a co-production with Andrew.
On Friday, Discovery’s TestTube website launched the first episode on the IFLS online video channel, with new eps to premiere every Friday:
In addition, Andrew and Science Channel are developing an IFLS television project to premiere over the course of the next several months.

The 20-something Andrew studied biology, animal sciences and evolution studies at the U. of Sheffield in England. In each IFLS episode, she will discuss news and advances from the world of science, as well as her favorite curated posts from that week and address fan feedback. She runs a “child-friendly” version of the Facebook page called
.
Discovery has been bulking up in the Internet media biz. The company
acquired online-video startup Revision3 division in 2012
in a deal reported to be worth between $30 million and $40 million. This May Revision3
