Stars 4, Jets 1: Tyler Seguin scored two goals and set up two others as Dallas rolled in its road opener.
Jamie Benn recorded a goal and two assists while Alex Chiasson netted and set up a tally for the Stars, who scored a total of four goals in their first two games this season. Kari Lehtonen stopped all 21 shots he faced before leaving in the latter half of the second period with a lower-body injury. Dan Ellis came on and made 22 saves.
Blake Wheeler scored a power-play goal and Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 27 shots for the Jets, who suffered their third straight loss as they began a season-high six-game homestand.
Chiasson opened the scoring 9 1/2 minutes into the game with a power-play goal and Seguin doubled the lead 2 1/2 minutes later with his first tally with Dallas. Rich Peverley made a back pass to Seguin, who one-timed the bouncing puck past Pavelec from above the right faceoff circle.
Benn scored his first of the campaign with 3:25 remaining in the first and Seguin made it 4-0 at 5:10 of the second, taking a feed from behind the net by Benn and beating Pavelec to the stick side with a blast from the left circle during a power play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Seguin became the first member of the Stars to register a four-point performance since Mike Ribeiro accomplished the feat against the New York Islanders in 2008. … Wheeler spoiled the combined shutout bid at 5:35 of the third period with his first goal of the season. … Winnipeg Ds Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom remained tied for the team scoring lead as each picked up his sixth assist – and point – on Wheeler’s goal.
