Recap: Louisville 99, Wright State 40
No. 7 Louisville 99, Wright State 40: Shoni Schimmel had 17 points and six rebounds as the host Cardinals rolled to the non-conference win in their first game since losing guard Antonita Slaughter to a blood clot in her lung.
Shawnta’ Dyer added 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench as Louisville (9-1) took a 55-17 lead into the break en route to its second straight victory. Asia Taylor and Sara Hammond both scored a dozen for the Cardinals and Jude Schimmel had nine assists.
Wright State (7-3) was led by Tay’ler Mingo with 15 points and three rebounds, but no other Raider hit double figures. Ivory James scored eight points on 3-of-13 shooting.
Louisville improved to 7-0 at home on the season and never trailed. The Cardinals outrebounded the Raiders 57-36 as Wright State shot just 23 percent from the field. Tayler Stanton added nine rebounds for Wright State.
Slaughter, who collapsed while on the bench during Tuesday’s game against Missouri State, was in attendance and on the bench but has been ruled out for the season. Louisville has scored at least 90 points six times this season
