EditorsNote: minor fix North Dakota State 90, Towson 82

Forward Marshall Bjorkland and guard Taylor Braun combined for 56 points to lead North Dakota State to a 90-82 victory over Towson in college basketball Saturday night in Fargo, N.D.

Their work overcame a big effort from Towson senior forward Jerrell Benimon, who came within three points of his career high with a game-high 29 points.

Braun and Bjorkland finished with 28 points each and guard Lawrence Alexander finished with 19 for the Bison. Bjorkland’s total was a career high and Alexander’s was a season best.

Towson had three other players in double figures. Guard Four McGlynn scored 16 points and forward Timah Parker-Rivera added 11. Guard Mike Burwell got all of his 12 points in the second half.

North Dakota State (9-4) won for the seventh time in its last eight games with the only loss in that span at Ohio State a week earlier. Towson (7-6) fell to 0-6 on the road.

The Bison, who went on a late surge to go into the locker room up 35-32 at the halftime break, pulled out to a 10-point lead, 62-52, approaching the midpoint of the second half and were still up by double digits at 68-58 a little over three minutes later before Towson began whittling away.

The Tigers had their deficit down to three points, 72-69, after Benimon’s jumper with 4:27 remaining, but the Bison went on a 7-0 spurt to get its lead back up to 10 points.

Towson managed to get it back to a six-point game with 1:03 left but could get no closer in the final minute.
