Monday morning’s weekend update from many city parents centered on Chicago Public Schools notification letters landing in mailboxes Saturday.
Most parents received letters regarding their child’s acceptance — or, more commonly, their wait-list number — for elementary magnet schools they had applied to for the 2014-15 school year. Most received nothing about selective enrollment schools, leaving some wondering if their child’s performance on the admission tests for gifted programs and classical schools wasn’t deemed worthy of a response.
The CPS admissions process has a way of nurturing such insecurities.
Set them aside this time. And check your mailbox today (Monday.)
Magnet school notification letters went out Friday; selective enrollment letters went out Saturday, according to CPS’ Office of Access and Enrollment.
The information was not readily apparent on cpsoae.org, but a morning call to the office led to a live person who relayed that information in the briefest of terms.
