Chris Coghlan will get his first start as a member of the Chicago Cubs, who will try to snap a two-game losing streak Tuesday night against the rival White Sox.
Coghlan, the 2009 National League rookie of the year with the Florida Marlins, will bat eighth and play left field. Coghlan went 1 for 2 as a late-inning replacement Monday in a 3-1 loss in 12 innings. Coghlan was promoted Saturday from Triple-A Iowa.
Coghlan will try to spark an offense that has struggled. Emilio Bonifacio is hitless in his last 11 at-bats, and Welington Castillo and Darwin Barney (who won’t start) are each 0 for 8.
Here’s the Cubs’ lineup:
Bonifacio 2B
Valbuena 3B
Rizzo 1B
Castro SS
Castillo C
Schierholtz RF
Lake CF
Coghlan LF
