, which is a select group of students around the Chicago area who are brilliant in their studies and in various pursuits. When I arrived to photograph Glenbrook North High School senior Derek Choi, I learned he was analyzing subatomic particles using a cosmic ray detector that was mounted above the drop wall ceiling in the science department. Rather than take anything down, we moved the shoot up. It was fun and a little different. He and the science teacher, who helped to secure a ladder so I could get the different view, helped it along. How often do you get to photograph the hidden areas of a high school..?
