Downers Grove North’s softball team got good news and bad news on a day last week.
In the afternoon on Thursday, pitcher Dale Ryndak was announced as the Gatorade Illinois Softball Player of the Year.
But disappointment came a few hours later when the Trojans were beaten, 7-4, by rival Downers Grove South in the semifinals of the Oswego East Sectional to finish 28-3-1.
South went on to lose to Naperville Central, 4-0, in the sectional finals over the weekend to finish 33-3.
