Racism, sexism, homophobia and hatred have no place in the classroom.
Steven Salaita’s claim that he teaches “students to think critically” is belied by his celebrating the kidnapping and killing of Israeli children as well as by his imagining Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appearing on television sporting a necklace made of the teeth of dead Palestinian children.
These are not contributions to critical thought, but testimonies of hate. It is abhorrent that anti-Semitism is defended under the cloak of academic freedom.
