Alan Solomon’s 7 reasons to go
1. Andy Williams’ Christmas show
Bing is gone, the TV variety shows are history–but we still have Andy for “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” Other times too (without the carols, of course).
2. The Roy Rogers-Dale Evans Museum
The kids have no idea why you’d pay to see an old Jeep and a stuffed palomino. This is where you can explain it to them, and sing them that song we love to sing . . .
3. Silver Dollar City
Simply one of the more pleasant, family-friendliest amusement parks in the country.
4. Jim Stafford Show
Stafford’s a survivor in a market that doesn’t tolerate fakes, and there’s a reason: He’s genuinely funny.
5. Dogwood Canyon Nature Park
When Branson’s congestion starts getting to you, there’s this escape an hour or so south. Walk it, bike it, fish it, breathe it.
6. Caves
Not only are they interesting and even pretty (one, Fantastic Caverns, moves you through on wheels), but in summer, they’re a relief from that Ozark heat. Did we forget to mention the heat?
7. Presleys’ Country Jubilee, the Baldknobbers Jamboree Show
One or the other. Hey, this is Branson…
