Of the 15 homicides logged in Chicago in the last two weeks, two killings occurred in Englewood, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.

On Friday, a 21-year-old man was stabbed to death in the 7300 block of South Halsted Street, according to officials. Two days earlier, an 18-year-old man was fatally shot in the 6100 block of South Aberdeen Street, police said.

Englewood, which had about 30,600 residents counted in the 2010 Census, has loose borders of Garfield Boulevard on the north, 75th Street on the south, Normal Avenue on the east and Racine Avenue on the west.

Englewood has logged 14 homicides so far this year, tied with Humboldt Park for the fifth highest toll among Chicago’s 77 community areas. The South Side community area recorded 23 homicides last year, up from 21 killings in 2012, according to RedEye data.

Citywide, gunshot homicides were logged in the last two weeks in Ashburn, Belmont Cragin, Douglas, Humboldt Park, the Near North Side, North Lawndale, Riverdale, Rogers Park, Uptown, West Englewood and West Garfield Park, according to officials.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man was stabbed to death Friday in the 7700 block of South Emerald Avenue in Auburn Gresham, police said. Five days earlier, a 37-year-old woman was beaten to death in the 800 block of South California Avenue in East Garfield Park, according to officials.

Thirty-two homicides have been logged so far this month. Forty-three homicides were recorded in September 2013, RedEye found.
