An Elmwood Park man was sentenced to 22 years in prison for convincing two 16-year-old girls to take explicit photos and send them to him.
Mark Barreto, 36, formerly of Chicago, met the girls on a private Internet chat room in 2012. He encouraged the girls to send him sexually explicit photos of themselves, according to a release from ederal prosecutors.
In 2012, U.S. postal inspectors searched his home and found a laptop computer that had about 430 images and 15 videos of child porn. Investigators also discovered several email accounts Baretto had used to contact females who were minors, including the two who sent photos to him, the release said.
Prosecutors said images of victims, as young as age 5, were found on Barreto’s computer.
Barreto pleaded guilty in June to manufacturing child porn and faced up to 30 years in prison. He was sentenced today to 22 years and ordered to pay $8,600 in restitution. The judge also ordered him placed on court supervision for 10 years upon his release.
