Dozens of fire departments battled an extra-alarm blaze that broke out this morning in far north suburban Wadsworth, officials said.
A home near MacIntosh Court and Orchard Bluff Lane caught on fire around 4 a.m., according to a Newport Township Fire Protection District spokesman.
More than 50 fire companies from the area responded and brought extra water because there were no hydrants around the home, which is between 4,000 and 6,000 square feet in size, officials said.
The fire was brought under control around 6:45 a.m. and there were no reports of injuries. It was not known if anyone was inside the home when the fire started.
