Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

As mayor of the City of Highwood, I extend a warm welcome to you and your family as you join us in our fifth annual Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival.

Pumpkin Fest has evolved and grown over the last several years, but one thing remains a constant: It is an awe-inspiring event for everyone, from age 1 to 100. This year, we are so very proud to partner with the Autism Society of Illinois.

This group is the first point of contact for families and people who are affected by autism throughout Illinois. They are available when families need support, input, or just a shoulder to cry on.

Our hope is that through awareness raised at The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival, we can increase the organization’s visibility and help it accomplish its mission statement: “Partnering with families and communities living with autism in Illinois by generating awareness and providing education, training, support, and guidance as a compassionate and caring authority.”

Additionally, I am happy to announce that all proceeds from this weekend’s Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival will go directly to ASI. So, please open your hearts and help raise funds for a foundation that gives more than money could possibly buy.

Enjoy yourself at our city’s great festival and thank you for joining us. Visit our petting zoo, go on our haunted hay ride, eat too much delicious food, watch and help our crew gut and clean pumpkins, and above all please carve a ton of pumpkins! Don’t forget that we start lighting all our jack-o’-lanterns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18, and 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 — you won’t want to miss this truly memorable and remarkable event!

Sincerely,
Mayor Charlie Pecaro
