The folks at Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises are absolute geniuses at creating small-footprint profit centers within its existing restaurants. It began with M Burger, originally carved from part of Tru’s space, and concepts such as Do-Rite Donuts (Petterino’s), Pizzeria Via Stato (Osteria Via Stato) and Ramen-San (Paris Club) have followed.
Thursday, another such creation debuted: Tallboy Taco, which occupies the recently remodeled front room inside Nacional 27 (325 W. Huron St., 312-664-2727
). The doors swung open at 4 p.m.
Tallboy Taco, which offers counter service and carryout, features eight taco varieies, all on hand-made fresh tortillas. Other menu items include chips and guacamole and charred-corn fundido, and beverages will range from beer in bottles and tallboys (hence the name) to cocktails and tequilas.
Tallboy Taco will be open for lunch Monday-Friday, and dinner Monday-Sunday, beginning at 3 p.m.
