UPDATE: Michael J. Vina was found safe in Downers Grove Thursday.

Downers Grove Police are looking for a developmentally disabled man who was reported missing after not showing up for a class this morning.

Michael J. Vina, 20, was last seen by his family leaving his home on foot Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m., Lt. Michael Willison said in a release. He was supposed to attend classes through the Transition 99 program at 4232 Venard Road on Wednesday morning but he never arrived, police said.

Transition 99 is a program that teaches life skills and independent living to special needs students who already have graduated from Community High School District 99.

Vina is five-feet-eight-inches tall, weighs 236 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black-rimmed glasses and carrying a green backpack, police said. He is described as having abilities comparable to a third or fourth grade level, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information on Vina’s whereabouts contact the department at (630) 434-5600 or call 911.
