Do you see Bears safety Brock Vereen playing nickel this Sunday against the Falcons? — @FabianD_inAZ_54 from Twitter

Vereen is one option and the team seems to be trying to keep a tight lid on plans that may not be finalized just yet.

Sherrick McManis likely will figure in the mix but he was still limited in practice Wednesday with his quad injury. McManis can play outside or potentially be used inside as the slot cornerback. Vereen would play in the slot.

Al Louis-Jean was promoted from the practice squad and defensive coordinator Mel Tucker even mentioned him as a possibility, likely playing outside with Tim Jennings sliding inside in the nickel. My hunch is Louis-Jean isn’t the first option. I think McManis has a role when he’s healthy and if someone is needed before then it could be Vereen or maybe even Demontre Hurst. It’s an important story to track as we move toward Sunday.
