While the fall season should be one of enjoyment, what with the beautiful change of colors and usually pleasant weather before the winter sets in, this fall cannot end quick enough. I can’t wait for Nov. 5 to roll around. Why? Here are my top 10 reasons:
10. No more obtrusive yard campaign signs.
9. No more obnoxious commercials on the TV or in print.
8. No more robo campaign calls during dinnertime.
7. No more uncomfortable discussions with neighbors and associates about whom to vote for.
6. No more news about the amount of wasteful money spent by candidates on their campaigns, instead of putting it to some good use to help others or repay the taxpayers for what the elected officials wasted during their last terms in office.
5. No more half-truths and innuendos from candidates and their supporters about each other, either on the TV, in newspapers or by phone calls.
4. No more broken promises from candidates of what they have done and will do for the electorate.
3. No more debates among candidates that leave us more confused than before.
2. Those elected can get back to the real issues at hand that may really mean something to the rest of us and that they were paid to solve.
1. Those elected will finally go back to Washington and Springfield and at least make it look like they are trying to earn the comfortable salaries and perks that we, the taxpayers, pay them. Exactly what they will do? I will have the winter to try to figure that out.
