To start, suicide rates among veterans average over 22 A DAY. On any given night there are as many as 50,000 homeless vets in this country. (To be fair, the Obama Administration has been addressing this issue and gotten the homeless number down by 14% over the past few years). To top it off, 11-20% of veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars suffer from some form of PTSD. A truly grateful nation should do better.
