Let us remind ourselves that “Broad City” will return January 14 to Comedy Central. I, for one, will be thankful for the season 2 premiere this holiday season.
There’s been lots of buzz. Last week, Comedy Central released the season 2 trailer. Co-stars and co-creaters Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer appeared alongside the great and powerful executive producer Amy Poehler at the New York Comedy club. And the duo made a stop at Lincoln Hall along its “Broad City Live” tour.
So, what can we expect out of season 2 of “Broad City”? Really, all we can ask for is more Bevers.
1. All the Bevers
We’ve still not met Abbi’s (Abbi Jacobson) roommate. But to be honest, it’s probably for the best. The roommate’s boyfriend Bevers (John Gemberling) is hilarious enough for both of them. If the trailer is any indication, Bevers will be back to cause even more shenanigans for Abbi.
2. Bed, Bath & Beyond
Abbi loves Bed, Bath & Beyond. She shops there exclusively for all her household needs. While in Chicago on tour with “Broad City Live,” Abbi and Ilana (Ilana Glazer) debuted a never-aired clip of Abbi unleashed in the store. It’s something to look forward to next season, since we have yet to meet many of the duo’s friends, especially Abbi’s BB&B friends.
3. L-O-V-E
In the first season, both Abbi and Ilana experimented with crushes, one-night stands and friends with benefits. At the New York Comedy Festival, the two said Ilana will be experimenting with her sexuality next season. Ilana will be going on a “journey” all on her own.
4. Workin’ it
At work, Abbi is a toilet-cleaning pro at the gym, and Ilana avoids doing anything at Deals Deals Deals—a Groupon-like business—by showing up late and taking afternoon naps. But in season 2, Abbi’s hard work appears to pay off. But we can probably expect it to go horribly; or maybe she’ll get fired. That’s the beauty of Broad City.
5. Just girls being girls in New York
Abbi and Ilana are just two normal chicks in Brooklyn, living out their hilariously messy lives. The situations and events on the show are based on real life experiences of Jacobson and Glazer and people they know. At “Broad City Live” in Chicago, Glazer said, “We’re all working on ourselves, that’s why we’re here, right?”
