The stack of hickory and oak logs is evidence that wood roasting is the rule at this Rolling Meadows mainstay (23 years in 2015). The chickens from the rotisserie emerge a burnished dark caramel, the product of a pineapple and orange juice marinade, and the skin is shiny from the two-hour roast and continuous basting. The chicken is uniformly moist, intensely savory with a barely perceptible zing from the lemon pepper seasoning. A whole chicken here for $8.55 is a great enough deal to make you forget the supermarket posers.
