GARY — A free screening of the Oscar-nominated movie “Selma,” will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the West Side Leadership Academy.

The free movie is sponsored by the Gary Community School Corp. and Pathways to College, a college mentoring program that has partnership with the district.

“Selma”is a historical drama directed by Ava DuVernay and nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. A discussion with students, educational leaders and Freedom Riders will follow.

Attendance is limited and wristbands will be required for entry. Wristbands will be available Tuesday, at: City Hall, 401 Broadway; Urban League of Northwest Indiana, 3101 Broadway; Haywood and Fleming Associates, 650 S. Lake St. and Powers & Sons, Inc., 2636 W. 15thAve.

Libraries and local churches will also have wristbands, according to a press release.
