During the bid process for the April 30-May 2 NFL draft, the league sent a list of requirements and commitments to Choose Chicago, detailing everything the league deemed necessary to hold the draft in Chicago. The list included everything from street closures to IT specifications and advertising restrictions. It’s unclear if the requests were fulfilled by Choose Chicago. Below, a few of the areas requested by the NFL.

SPACES SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED

  • The Auditorium Theatre, along with all lobbies, any space on the concourse level, the Adler Room, the loading dock, a private alleyway entry from Michigan Avenue and the entire second floor of the Auditorium Building.
  • The entire fourth floor of the Wabash Building, including the conference room and dining hall space.
  • The Chicago Club Terrace
  • Congress Plaza North and South.
  • Grant Park
  • The surface parking lot located at Van Buren and Wabash.

REQUESTED ROAD/SIDEWALK CLOSURES
April 19 through May 6

  • Congress Parkway between Michigan and Wabash Avenues, with all sidewalk space.
  • Two lanes closest to the theatre on Wabash Avenue between Congress Parkway and Van Buren Street, including the sidewalk.
  • The curb lane of Michigan Avenue between Congress Parkway and Van Buren Street, expanding to include another lane and the sidewalk on April 29.

NON-SPECIFIC SPACES REQUESTED

  • Publicly accessible outdoor space for a “village” with space for approximately 15 “sponsor activation zones.”
  • Athletic fields for youth football clinics and events, available April 27-May 1.
  • Party space for 150 guests. Space must serve Anheuser-Busch products.
  • Party space for 650-700 guests, with concert space, on Wednesday, April 29.
  • Lunch space for a 250-guest sit-down lunch that will be taped for television.
  • Concert event space to host a large music event on April 29 or May 2.

HOTEL ARRANGEMENTS REQUESTED

The NFL requested room-rate agreements from the following 13 hotels. The league then chooses which ones to use.
