Illiana Christian 56, Herscher 34: Zach Pruim chalked up 18 points to spark host Illiana Christian (18-5).
St. Charles North 66, Hillcrest 64: DeAngelo Isby scored 16 points to pace Hillcrest (17-6) at the Kaneland Shootout.
Girls Basketball
Trinity 45, Crete-Monee 39: Desiree Jackson (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Marsha Howard (13 points, 10 rebounds) posted double-doubles to lead visiting Crete-Monee (12-13).
Wrestling
Class 3A Normal Individual Sectional: Lockport’s Shayne Oster pinned Plainfield Central’s Clayton Ledbetter to win the 138-pound championship. Abdullah Assaf (113) and Tyler Johnson (195) also won titles for the Porters, who advanced five individuals to the state meet. Vinny Piunti (120) and Jake Dudeck (182) were second in their respective weight classes for Lincoln-Way Central, which had four wrestlers qualify for the next level.
Class 2A Sterling Individual Sectional: Tom Buell (113), Noah Keefe (132) and Trevor Schmidt (182) were second in their respective divisions for Lincoln-Way West, which put three other entrants in the state tournament.
Class 1A Wilmington Individual Sectional: Jesse Ellis, of Illiana Christian, won by fall over Ag. Science’s Carlton Brown in the 126-pound final. Brown’s teammate, Amer Shalabi (138) also earned a state berth after notching a pin in the third-place match.
Boys Indoor Track & Field
Lonnell Poole Invitational: Jaquon Burns, Antonio Davis, Travis Standberry and Brandon Bishop won the 1,600-meter relay (3 minutes, 53.31 seconds) as host Bloom (85 points) finished a close second to Bartlett (93) among the eight scoring squads. Crete-Monee (75) came in third, the Warriors led by Elijah Douglas, who posted the top performances in the 55 hurdles (7.98 seconds) and long jump (22 feet, 4 inches). Nate Griffin won the 400 dash (55.14) and Tyler Schiemann had the best effort in the shot put (47-91/2) in helping Providence (64) take fourth. Hillcrest (48), Harlem (44), Argo (32) and Kankakee (13) rounded out the field.
Girls Indoor Track & Field
Morton Invitational: Khalia McIntyre won the long jump (16-3) and triple jump (34-3) in pacing Shepard (113.5) to a second-place showing behind Morton (154) in the six-team meet.
College Baseball
Freed-Hardeman (Tennessee) 11, St. Francis 5: Pat Michalak (3-for-3) scored twice and Brandon Mendoza (2-for-3) added two RBI for visiting St. Francis (1-2).
Central Methodist (Missouri) 15, St. Francis 7: Zach Barkdull (3-for-4) swatted a solo homer and an RBI double to lead St. Francis in its first game of the day in Henderson, Tennessee.
Men’s Basketball
St. Xavier 90, Trinity International 80: Jack Krieger scored a career-best 43 points and also pulled down six rebounds to steer host St. Xavier (17-10, 11-6) in the CCAC North. Larry Motuzis added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Cougars.
Purdue Calumet 74, St. Francis 71: Ilya Ilyayev racked up 26 points and six rebounds for visiting St. Francis (20-8, 14-3) in the CCAC South. Jens Kennedy chipped in 16 points for the Saints.
Lewis 77, Missouri S&T 64: Jeff Jarosz put up 19 points and Ryan Jackson netted 17 to power host Lewis (18-6, 10-5) in the GLVC crossover. Max Strus tacked on 15 points and nine rebounds for the Flyers.
Cardinal Stritch (Wisconsin) 74, Trinity Christian 56: Cody Rhorer scored a team-leading 17 points for visiting Trinity Christian (9-19, 4-13) in the CCAC North.
Joliet Junior College 66, Harper 55: Daymeann Stewart’s 17 points elevated visiting Joliet Junior College (18-10, 4-8) in the North Central Community College Conference. Darious Randolph and Matt Hund added 15 and 13 points, respectively, for the Wolves.
Moraine Valley 74, South Suburban 72: Brian Townsend (11 rebounds) and Ermias Nega (7 rebounds) registered 16 points apiece to vault host Moraine Valley (14-13). South Suburban slipped to 18-10.
Men’s Indoor Track & Field
Chicagoland Championships: Wins by Adam Barr in the weight throw (60-6), Isaac Jean-Paul in the high jump (6-103/4), Kevin Dorenkamper in the 60-meter hurdles (8.15) and Andrew McClain in the 3,000 run (8:21.02) guided Lewis (83) to a second-place finish behind host North Central (118.5). Kyonn Keith prevailed in the 200 dash (22.42) as St. Xavier (23) tied for 10th in the 20-team meet. Trinity Christian (10) was 14th.
Women’s Basketball
St. Xavier 96, Trinity International 41: Suzie Broski was 5-for-7 on 3-pointers and finished with 21 points and six rebounds in guiding host St. Xavier (25-2, 16-0) in the CCAC North. Morgan Stuut tacked on 19 points, nine rebounds and nine assists for the Cougars.
Lewis 65, Missouri S&T 49: Mariyah Brawner-Henley poured in 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to spur host Lewis (25-1, 15-1) in the GLVC crossover. Jamie Johnson added 16 points for the Flyers.
St. Francis 91, Purdue Calumet 86: Katie Gonnering (22 points, 9 rebounds) and Kaitlyn Ray (22 points, 5 rebounds) sparked visiting St. Francis (14-14, 10-5) in the CCAC South.
Cardinal Stritch (Wisconsin) 61, Trinity Christian 46: Caitlin Cody provided 15 points and nine rebounds to aid visiting Trinity Christian (13-15, 7-9) in the CCAC North.
Joliet Junior College 82, Harper 56: Le’Royia Campbell tossed in 17 points and Chavon Banks (11 rebounds) scored 12 to lift visiting Joliet Junior College (19-9, 8-4) in the N4C.
