Gov. Bruce Rauner is on to something big with his idea that freedom of speech means that workers should not be forced to pay dues for the benefits they get from unions. Let’s not stop there. I benefit from many services that are provided by the state of Illinois. But a government run by a Republican governor is contrary to my beliefs. Thus, my right to freedom of speech should entitle me to consider Illinois taxes as purely voluntary.
