Although the Olympic version of curling involves more sweeping and yelling than the version you will find at Kaiser Tiger in Chicago, the rules are essentially the same. If you’ve ever played bocce ball or shuffleboard, you’ll notice similarities.
HOW TO PLAY
Each player (or team) takes turns sliding stones down a sheet of ice toward a target at the other side. Each team throws eight stones in an end (like an inning in baseball).
Once all 16 rocks have been thrown (or in Kaiser Tiger’s case, eight), the score is counted based on which team is closest to the center of the target, also known as the “house.” A team scores one point for each stone that it has closer to the center of the house than the other team. Only one team can score in an end, and generally each game consists of 10 ends.
