LAKE OKEECHOBEE
Big bass were biting swimbaits, swim jigs and large soft-plastic jerkbaits around holes in the grass as well as creature baits pitched to isolated reed heads in South Bay.
EVERGLADES/FRESHWATER
Capt. Alan Zaremba reported big peacock bass were biting in Miami’s urban canals using jigs and Clouser minnow flies. Fishing for largemouth bass is good in the canals at Sawgrass Recreation Park, Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge and Lake Ida.
SOUTH FLORIDA INSHORE
Harry Vernon reported tarpon were biting live shrimp at night in Biscayne Bay. Tuesday night he and his companions landed three of four tarpon. Tarpon also were being caught on bait and flies in Everglades National Park. Snook, sea trout and jacks were biting in Florida Bay.
SOUTH FLORIDA OFFSHORE
Capt. Skip Dana said anglers on the Helen S and Fish City Pride drift boats at Hillsboro Inlet Marina caught yellowtail, mutton and some big mangrove snappers in 35-55 feet. A few kingfish were caught in deeper water. Charter boats had some sailfish, dolphin, kings, tunas and wahoos in 90-175 feet.
THE KEYS
Capt. George Clark Jr. of Rodeo Charters in Key Largo said dolphin, blackfin tunas and a few wahoo were biting offshore. Amberjacks are plentiful on deep wrecks. Snappers, groupers and permit were biting on the reefs.
