The irony of the photo accompanying Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Perspective piece (“Forget right to work. Create right to thrive,” Mar. 11) is breathtaking.

The mayor claims he wants to create “thrive zones” in “the city’s most economically depressed neighborhoods.”

Harper Court, pictured in the photo, represents a $23.4 million taxpayer subsidy for the University of Chicago, an institution with an endowment over $7.4 billion in a neighborhood that can hardly be described as “economically depressed.”
