Allyson Leach drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap a tie and lift Purdue Calumet’s softball team past Michigan-Dearborn 8-7 in the opener of a doubleheader at Hammond’s Dowling Park. Olivia Donley hit a two-run homer for the Peregrines (9-7), and she and Jess Loy both had two hits.
Michigan-Dearborn won the nightcap 13-5 to earn a split.
PUC men’s tennis loses pair: Purdue Calumet lost 9-0 to Roosevelt (Illinois) and 9-0 to Adrian (Michigan) at MatchPoint Tennis & Fitness Club in Griffith. The Peregrines are 0-3 overall, 0-1 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
