The telephone calls allegedly from various Internet and computer companies are a scam. None of these big companies will ever ask you to give them control of your computer so they can give you free upgrades. Sheriff John Buncich asked the public to report these and other types of suspicious activity to the Sheriff’s Crime Hotline at 1 (800) 750-2746. You can even leave the message anonymously.

April 25 is Safe Kids Day at the Southlake YMCA, 1450 S. Court St., Crown Point. It is coming thanks to a Crown Point Community Foundation grant and Franciscan St. Anthony Health Crown Point. There will be lots of fun things to do for the family.

April 30 is the Spaghetti Dinner at St. Helen’s Philoptochos Ladies Society of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville from 4 to 7 p.m. for dinner. Lunch carry-out only from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., call 769-0610. This is the eighth annual fundraiser to distribute food to hundreds of needy families. Last year an average of 500 families a month were served by the Ross Township Food Pantry.

July 11-12 the Gary Air Show will be back in Gary in scenic Marquette Park. Both the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights will be there to amaze one and all. It is nice to know that the Gary Air Show is going to be back in Gary.

An old friend sent me some great questions and answers from the days when the “Hollywood Squares” game show responses were spontaneous, not scripted, as they are now. Many can not be repeated in polite company. Here are some for a general audience.

Q: Paul, why do Hell’s Angels wear leather?

A: Paul Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles too easily.
