Author visit: Award-winning and New York Times bestselling author Jacqueline Winspear celebrates the launch of ” Dangerous Place,” the latest novel in the popular Maisie Dobbs mysteries series at 1 p.m. March 30 at 701 Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills. Registration requested.

Origami crafts: Kids can get their hands on the science of circuits and geometry through the art of paper folding March 31 at 1:30 p.m. for grades 3-5, and at 3 p.m. for grades 6-8. Participants make and keep their very own light-up origami. Registration required.

Digital media: Learn about digital preservation in the library’s media lab at 1 p.m. April 1. This class features demonstrations of video and photo digitilization, as well as information about multimedia editing software. Registration required.

Closed captioned screening: “The Hundred-foot Journey, ” rated PG, will be shown at 2 p.m. April 3. Registration is recommended.

Fundraiser: Friends of the Library and Star Charities will hold the annual Wauconda Bunny Hop April 4. There is a 4-mile timed run around Bangs Lake, a 2-mile fun run/walk around Cook Park and Main Street, and a Junior Bunny Hop for kids 10 and under. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library. Cost is $10-25. Registration is available in person at the Library, or at RaceRoster.com.
