Girls 4 Science hosted its 4th Annual Women’s History Month Reception and Award Ceremony on March 11 at Baker & McKenzie in Chicago. The event recognized supporters and participants of the Girls 4 Science organization and encouraged the 175 attendees to make a difference in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) related fields.
The reception opened with remarks from Regine Corrado, a partner at the multinational law firm Baker & McKenzie. Guest speaker and honoree Ilene S. Gordon, chief executive officer of Ingredion Inc., delivered a motivational presentation. Gordon is involved in Girls 4 Science as both a mentor and sponsor.
Other speakers included Girls 4 Science students Aaliyah Gilbert and Morgan Jackson, who shared their positive experiences from the program.
The event raised more than $32,000 to benefit Girls 4 Science, a nonprofit organization dedicated to exposing girls in Chicago ages 10-18 to science, technology, engineering and math.
