The Village of Huntley continues with its streetscape improvement plans this week.
Last week, crews completed the installation of new water mainlines and new service connections on Woodstock Street. This week, work will commence on the Church Street water main from Main Street to 2nd Street along with the installation of individual water service connections.
Residences and businesses in this area can expect a brief shut down of water service during this time while the new service is connected to each property — approximately 30 minutes to one hour. The water will be available for use immediately after reconnection.
A new water main will be connected at Main Street at the intersection of Woodstock Street on Tuesday, April 28. The water service will be shut down for approximately four hours while the new main is connected. Property owners will be notified of the shut-down prior to the start of the work.
Once the water is back on, properties in the area will need to boil water used for consumption or cooking for 5 minutes. The boil order will remain in place for 36 hours or until passing disinfection results are obtained. Food establishments will need to coordinate with the Health Department if they intend to remain open during the boil order.
The Parking lot at Main Street and the Railroad tracks behind the new retail building remains closed for several more weeks while crews install storm sewer lines. A new temporary parking lot can be accessed south of Main Street at Woodstock Street.
Dry utilities improvements are expected to begin this week as well. The work will be focused in the area of Coral Street and Dwyer Street and along the alley south of Main Street between Woodstock Street and Church Street.
