Hunter safety: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has a hunter safety Internet-completion course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 24 at Gun World of South Florida, 1700 South Powerline Rd., Deerfield Beach. Students must complete the Internet course before coming to class and bring a copy of the final report. An adult must accompany children under 16. Ladies Fish-Off: The 30th annual Ladies Fish-Off is May 30 out of Pompano Beach. Only females can fish in the tournament, but men can serve as captains and mates. The kickoff party is May 28 at Galuppi’s. Entry fees are $175 per angler, $95 for juniors 11-16 and $50 for pee-wees 10 and under. KDW Classic: The 13th annual Palm Beach County KDW Classic is May 30 out of Riviera Beach Marina. Conducted by the West Palm Beach Fishing Club and the City of Riviera Beach, the tournament this year will offer 10 guaranteed cash awards in the kingfish, dolphin, wahoo and junior (ages 12 and under) categories. Nature walks: Miramar Pineland, 3600 S. University Drive, Miramar, has twice-monthly Sunset Nature Walks for ages 6 and up from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The next walks are June 3 and 7. Cost is $3 per person. To register, call the park at 954-357-8776.

Regatta results: Magic Marine and skipper Brett Moss won the One Design division and the grand prize trophy May 16 in the fifth annual Hospice Regatta, which was hosted by Lauderdale Yacht Club, Hillsboro Inlet Sailing Club, Gulfstream Sailing Club and Sailing Singles of South Florida. More than 35 sailboats competed. Other division winners and their skippers were Blue Runner and John Antweiler in ARC; Good Ship Lolli and LS Cooper in Beach Cat; Unicorn and Michael Peteler in Cruising Canvas; Third Tri and Larry Geller in Multihull; and Grand Cru and Danny Escobar in PHRF. Proceeds benefitted Hospice by the Sea and Hospice of Palm Beach County.

Mako tournament: A Mako Owners Tournament, which is open to all Bass Pro Shops customers regardless of their boat’s make, is June 4-7 in Miami Beach. Participants can fish for inshore, nearshore and offshore species. Top anglers will receive plaques from King Sailfish and framed art by Carey Chen and Thomas Kraus. Entry fee is $100 per boat, which includes T-shirts and meals for the crew, and each captain receives a goody bag valued at $200 and a $50 Bass Pro Shops gift card. The kickoff party is 7 p.m. June 4 at the Bass Pro Shops store in Dania Beach. Fishing is June 5-6, with daily cookouts at Miami Beach Marina. Register online at fundaments.com.

Dolphin tournament: The inaugural Skippers Dolphin Tournament, previously known as the Coconuts Dolphin Tournament, is back and better than ever as the team with the heaviest total weight of three dolphin wins $25,000. The tournament is June 6-7 in Key Largo, with the kickoff and captains meeting June 5 at Skippers Dockside. Entry fee is $195 per angler or $750 per boat.
