LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Look for schooling bass chasing shad first thing in the morning by the outside grass lines. Then try flipping isolated clumps of reeds.

EVERGLADES/FRESHWATER: Capt. Alan Zaremba of Hollywood said to enjoy the good bass fishing in Everglades canals before the rainy season begins and the fish disperse. His anglers have caught bass up to 3 pounds swimming plastic worms on the surface. Anglers using 14-inch worms and snakes and flipping creature baits were catching bigger bass.

SOUTH FLORIDA INSHORE: Now that snook season is closed along the Atlantic coast, anglers can catch and release the fish at inlets from Government Cut to Sebastian Inlet. Early morning and night have been the best times.

SOUTH FLORIDA OFFSHORE: Capt. Chris Lemieux of Boynton Beach said fishing has been good, with catches of a few nice kingfish and blackfin tunas in 120-200 feet. “Yellowtails snappers are biting really good on the reef,” said Lemieux. “A few dolphin are offshore.”

THE KEYS: There have been fair numbers of dolphin 5-15 pounds, but fishing has been good some days and slow on other days. The best bet has been fishing the reefs for yellowtail snappers.
