June 4-7: A Mako Owners Tournament, which is open to all Bass Pro Shops customers regardless of their boat’s make, is out of Miami Beach. Participants can fish for inshore, nearshore and offshore species. Top anglers will receive plaques from King Sailfish and framed art by Carey Chen and Thomas Kraus. Entry fee is $100 per boat, which includes T-shirts and meals for the crew, and each captain receives a goody bag valued at $200 and a $50 Bass Pro Shops gift card. June 6: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has a hunter safety Internet-completion course from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Bass Pro Shops, 200 Gulf Stream Way, Dania Beach. Students must complete the Internet course before coming to class and bring a copy of the final report. An adult must accompany children under 16. June 6-7: The inaugural Skippers Dolphin Tournament, previously known as the Coconuts Dolphin Tournament, is back and better than ever as the team with the heaviest total weight of three dolphin wins $25,000. June 13: The third annual Bulls for Brooke dolphin tournament is out Bahia Mar Beach Resort & Yachting Center in Fort Lauderdale. First prize is $10,000 for the heaviest dolphin of 30 pounds or more. There are also prizes for the top three boats, the top angler, top female angler and top junior angler. Entry fee is $350 for four anglers. Weigh-in is 3 to 5:30 p.m. followed by a live auction, live music and a barbecue. Proceeds help pay for the physical therapy of Brooke Thabit of Boca Raton, who was paralyzed almost three years ago when she broke her neck diving off a dock.
