Here’s a win-win. Pitchfork music festival is looking for volunteers to help keep things running smoothly over its three-day run (July 17-19) at Union Park.
Beyond listening to music while pouring beers, taking tickets or checking wristbands, volunteers can help earn money for Tree House Humane Society. The shelter will get table space in the nonprofit section as well as a cash donation based on how many shifts its volunteers cover.

Tree House is also looking for up to seven people a day to work its table. Email ashley@treehouseanimals.org if you’re interested.

Are 5 species endangered?
Five Midwest reptile and amphibian species are being assessed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to determine whether they need protection under the Endangered Species Act.
The five species — the alligator snapping turtle, Blanding’s turtle, spotted turtle, Illinois chorus frog and green salamander — are among 20 species being reviewed nationwide.
Once the Fish and Wildlife Service completes its assessment, it will decide whether to propose listing any as endangered or threatened. For more information on the five species and the ongoing assessment, go to fws.gov/midwest/es/soc.
