On the cover
Inspired by memory and nostalgia, Desiree Swanson meticulously investigates collected objects in her tableaus. Swanson’s subject matter includes old rusted objects, unique chotchkies or old toys — all of which are elevated by her attention to detail and tedious application of paint. In 2009, she received a Bachelor of Arts from Monmouth College and she subsequently received a Master of Fine Arts from Northern Illinois University in 2012.

Swanson has exhibited at the McLean County Arts Center in Bloomington and Illinois Central College in East Peoria. She now resides and works in Minooka, Illinois.
