I’m done with the common politicians, and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is not a common man. He might be rich, but at least he says what’s on his mind. He’s not afraid to stand up for what he believes. Trump is the man.

I hope everybody gets together and demonstrates for justice for former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who was found guilty on federal corruption charges. He should be released from prison. He should be out on his own, even if they put him on a home monitor. I think everybody should get together and start demonstrating on his behalf.
Regarding calls for a gang crackdown in Chicago: I’m sick and tired of all the rhetoric about needing more laws. Enforce the laws you’ve got. Put these criminals away and quit accepting excuses. Slam them. “We don’t have the money for prisons” is the most ridiculous excuse I ever heard. You have money for all the people getting killed, all the damage being done and everything else that’s happening. It makes no sense to me.
Tom, Oak Lawn
What kind of criminal justice system do we have? Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. steals hundreds of thousands of dollars by misusing campaign funds and is out of prison after two years and treated like he’s some kind of rock star by the news media. Meanwhile, former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who hasn’t taken a dime and his only crime was being overambitious politically and maybe having a big mouth, is taken from his family for 14 years on federal corruption charges. Our system is not fair. I think this should be looked at much more closely to give Blagojevich a fair chance to get back with his family.

I really don’t believe Burbank police officers have that much to do at nighttime that they cannot write parking tickets for illegally parked cars across the sidewalk. From 8 o’clock until at least 5 or 6 o’clock in the morning from 81st Street and Austin Avenue to 83rd Street and Newcastle Avenue cars are parked all over the sidewalk. There are at least 10 a night. I don’t see why police cannot ticket these people.
Tinley Park must be nuts to consider buying 280 acres worth of storage tanks, crumbling buildings and soil contaminated with mercury and lead. In the end, it’s going to cost the village millions to fix up the property of the former Tinley Park Mental Health Center. Tinley Park needs to repave the streets, replace the ash trees and fix the water meters before it buys this state land that’s going to be a sieve for money. The village trustees ought to be ashamed of themselves to even be considering this.
Marie, Tinley Park
As a police officer, I’m getting tired of people knocking us and telling us we’re not doing our job and we’re picking on this one and that one. If you’re so smart, instead of being home in your house at night, why don’t you go on a ride-along? Then you’ll see how we’re treated. You’ve got your mouth rattling and everything else, but you’re not in the streets with us. But we’re there when you call us, aren’t we? We’re good for that.
It’s very hard to believe that Oak Forest Ald. Chuck Toland made an $18,000 mistake on the credit card owned by the Oak Forest Raiders youth football group. He mixed it up with his credit card? How do you use it mistakenly for this much money? So he paid it back. The Raiders have been increasing their fees over the last five years. Are the parents of the kids who paid those fees going to get any money back? This is an organization devoted to kids. Not just to play football but to teach them team work, discipline, etc. It’s good that Toland resigned as alderman because doesn’t have the integrity to be one.
Bill D, Oak Forest
These legislators in Springfield are messing with the taxpayers and voters. They deserve no pay raise, none. They’re about 40 percent overpaid now. We do need term limits to get rid of them because all they do is suck up the taxpayers’ money.

I think a better name for Gov. Bruce Rauner is dictator. He’s much more than a bully. He thought he was going to come in and run the state like he runs the companies owned by his private equity firm. Well, it doesn’t work like that, Rauner. Thank God we have the Democrats to protect us. I’m not saying they’re perfect. They’ve made many mistakes, but at least they believe in unions to protect the people.

Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump, Jeb Bush and John Kasich are too moderate just as Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Rand Paul and Mike Huckabee are too out of touch to win the Grand Old Party nomination. Scott Walker will be the chosen one, but he will lose the general election.
