If former Gov. Rod Blagojevich gets out of prison early on his federal corruption conviction, we don’t want to waste the taxpayers’ money by having an empty cell there. I have an excellent idea how to refill it. Get former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and put him in there and let him fill out the sentence he should have served Jackson actually committed a crime by misusing about $750,000 in campaign funds. Blagojevich didn’t commit a crime. Why the double standard?

This is an alert to Blue Island residents. If you paid for your vehicle sticker with a credit card, check your credit card statement. I was charged three times what my sticker cost.

Anybody who wants to listen to a great FM radio station should try 87.7. It’s a super station and they play no garbage.

Regarding Oak Forest Ald. Chuck Toland and the issue with the Oak Forest Raiders football and cheerleading organization, for which he served as treasurer: How can anybody come up with such a lame excuse as “I accidentally spent $18,000 using the organization’s credit card?” Get real and get lost. this guy is a phony.

Can anything possibly be more fitting than that of the Democratic Party having a jackass as its symbol?

I hate to burst the bubble of the Chicagoan complaining about water rates. All of my suburban friends complain about their rates, too. And many of them think Chicago’s rates are a bargain compared to theirs. By the way, if you think your rates are too high, take advantage of the city’s program to install a water meter so your bill is based on usage and not on the lot and house size. I did, and my bill is lower by a third. Others I know who have done this also say their water bill has gone down.

A reader from Crete wonders why Bill Cosby isn’t in prison for his alleged sex crimes. Note the word alleged. Cosby has not been charged or convicted. Our criminal justice system is flawed, but it’s all we have and we must let it perform. Many women have come forward, and there is a mountain of evidence to be gathered. If we go back to ruling by public opinion, then we go back to barbarism and performing public stonings and burnings at the stake. Relax, Crete, Bill Cosby will have his day in court.

The left-leaning reporters and commentators at MSNBC are so upset at the gall of Tom Brady (football inflater and Patriots quarterback), that he would erase or destroy his cellphone while in the middle of an investigation into his honesty. Yet when the destruction of records and emails is done in a more serious issue by the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the left wants to keep making and accepting her excuses. Go figure.

I find it hard to believe Hillary Clinton when she says that she’s just like the rest of us out here in the real world. Why, you ask? How many people can afford to get a $600 haircut like her?

With the recently exposed political connections in Tinley Park among the owners of a flower shop, printer, pizza business and garbage disposal service, could there have been a similar connection with the purchase of thousands of faulty water meters? That could explain why the village buried the suspicion that they were inaccurate and did not aggressively pursue the problem while the meters were still under warranty.
