Being a Chicagoan with very strong ties to the Crescent City, I know firsthand that even after 10 years, the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina is still very real, very personal and very painful for the people who experienced it. The people of New Orleans wouldn’t wish something like that upon anyone else, and anyone wishing that kind of decimation upon her own city is imperceptive on epic proportions.

Renewal? Maybe. But at the cost of loved ones who succumbed, and/or a loss of home and every personal belonging in the world? I think not.
