Here is a look at what some Southlanders have achieved in college, according to releases from the schools:

Austin State University

Business communications and legal studies student Kristoff Jones, of Matteson, is among the students who were named to the dean’s list at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, for the spring semester. Jones is majoring in general business.

To be eligible for this honor, a student must be enrolled in 12 or more semester hours and maintain a grade-point average of at least 3.5.

Minnesota State University, Mankato

Tomika Johnson-Flowers, of Steger, was among the students named to the academic high honor and honor lists (dean’s lists) for the past spring semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato, as announced by Marilyn Wells, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.

Johnson-Flowers was among the 2,260 students who earned a grade-point average of 3.5 to 3.99 to qualify for the honor list. To qualify for academic honors, undergraduates must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours for the semester.

Lawrence University

Southlanders were among the 310 students awarded bachelor of arts or bachelor of music degrees in June during the 166th commencement ceremony for Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis.

JaNelle Barnes, of Dolton, earned a bachelor of arts in English. She is a 2011 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School in Chicago and the daughter of Jacqueline McMorris, of Dolton.

Joseph Belonger, of Lockport, earned a bachelor of arts in English and graduated magna cum laude. He is a 2010 graduate of Lincoln-Way West High School in New Lenox Township and the son of Nancy Belonger, of Lockport, and the late Daniel Belonger.

Peru State College

Junior Meghan McPolin, of Orland Park, was among the students who earned a place on the dean’s list for the spring semester at Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska. She also earned a grade-point average of 4.0 for the semester.

To make the dean’s list, students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the semester, have completed at least 12 college credit hours during the past semester and have no incomplete grades for the semester.

Washington University

The dean’s list for the spring semester at Washington University in St. Louis included Southlanders from the following towns:

*Hickory Hills: Kathleen Przybylski, of the College of Arts & Sciences.

*Homewood: Ronald Obinna Nwumeh and Isaiah Thomas Sciford, both of the College of Arts & Sciences.

*Oak Lawn: Matthew Joseph Page, of the Olin Business School.

*Palos Heights: Suvrat Chandra, of the College of Arts & Sciences.

*Park Forest: Ryan Sharod Paige, of the College of Arts & Sciences.

*Tinley Park: Brooke Connors Hofer, of the Olin Business School; and Sarah A. Ibrahim, of the College of Arts & Sciences.

To qualify for the dean’s list in the College of Arts & Sciences or the Olin Business School, students must earn a semester grade-point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point

Lindsay Cutting, of Palos Hills, was among the nearly 1,400 graduates of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point during the school’s spring commencement ceremonies. Cutting earned a master of science in natural resources.

Milwaukee School of Engineering

Martha Savory, of Evergreen Park, was among the students who graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in May. Savory earned a bachelor of science in industrial engineering.

University of Northern Colorado

Amanda Ballard, of Orland Park, was among the students named to the dean’s honor roll in recognition of their outstanding scholarship for the 2014-15 academic year at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

Students on the honor roll maintain a grade-point average of 3.50 to 3.74 in any two terms of the school year.

Lawrence Technological University

Josephine Diane Grygiel, of Manhattan, graduated in May from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Mich. Grygiel received a bachelor of science in architecture during the school’s 83rd commencement exercises.

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire

Dennis Beale, of Richton Park, was among the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s 1,330 graduates during commencement proceedings in May. A student in the College of Education and Human Sciences, Beale earned a master of education and professional development.
