The accelerated number of shooting incidents on Chicago’s expressways must end.
The inability of the Illinois State Police to apprehend and arrest violent perpetrators only increases probability of these occurrences. Apprehension, arrest and criminal trial convictions would be a highly impactful deterrent and absence of these things emboldens this kind of criminality.
Obviously cameras need to be installed at strategic locations to identify vehicles and drivers engaged in violent road activities.
The general public and witnessing motorists should provide law enforcement officials with identifying information regarding these culprits.
Initiating violence on interstate highways should be a federally criminalized offense with severe incarceration penalties exceeding current, more lenient, state sentences.
The only viable option is to maintain public safety on interstate roads regardless of numerical incarceration rate.
Public safety first.
