Andy Parker, having recently lost a young daughter to a shooting, said it all when he called out state and federal legislators for their care-less attitudes about gun control in his state. He mentioned the legislators by name as supporters of, or election benefactors of, the National Rifle Association. Those men contributed to the untimely death of his daughter by virtue of ignoring potential legislation that would have improved gun control.

Unfortunately, Parker focused a bit too narrowly, referring to Senate Bill 1429, legislation to allow a judge to temporarily remove firearms from someone in crisis. I think it’s time to remove firearms (not used for sport) from the reach of everyone. Handguns and automatic weapons are designed to kill people. Moreover, most of these weapons find their way into the hands of undesirables.

With so many tragedies occurring daily, isn’t it time to stop the craziness and limit such weaponry to law enforcement?
