EVERGLADES/FRESHWATER: Bass were biting topwater lures, including snakes and frogs, in the canals along Alligator Alley by mile marker 41. The finger canals along U.S. Highway 27 had lots of small bass and a few big ones. Peacock and largemouth bass were biting in Lake Ida.

LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Bass anglers were catching fish on the main lake around Indian Prairie, Kings Bar and Bird Island using frogs, swim jigs and swimbaits.

SOUTH FLORIDA INSHORE: Capt. Jason Sullivan reported catching small tarpon on flies, jerkbaits and topwater plugs on the flats and in the backcountry of Everglades National Park. Tailing redfish also were on the flats.

SOUTH FLORIDA OFFSHORE: Capt. Chris Lemieux of Boynton Beach said the best bet has been dolphin in 800 to 1,200 feet. A few more kingfish were biting on the reefs, along with some bonitos and snappers. RJ Boyle of Lighthouse Point reported big swordfish, along with lots of dolphin, were biting during the day 15 miles offshore. He had a 520-pound swordie earlier this week. Capt. Wayne Conn of the Reward drift boat in Miami said keeper mutton snappers up to 6 pounds were biting on night trips.

THE KEYS: The blackfin tuna bite at the humps has been really good, especially for those using live bait. Fishing for schoolie dolphin has been good most days.
