Analysis of upper-level conditions and satellite imagery shows an expanding dome of warm air to the southwest. By midweek, this region should extend from the southern Rockies to the East Coast. This pattern will lift jet-stream winds well to the north, bringing most of the country warm, dry weather. Exceptions will be the Pacific northwest, and northern New England, where cooler air is expected. The Chicago area, as well as most of the Midwest, will experience an extended spell of sunny, warm days and clear, seasonably cool nights. Expansive high pressure is expected to block any intrusion of moist air, allowing daytime temperatures to rise quickly. Computer forecasts suggest this warm pattern will continue through next week. High temperatures should average about 10 degrees above normal through the period.
